My wife, a fully A.S.A qualified swim instructor, takes children on a one to
one basis for half an hour. The local authority is now threatening to stop
her, can they do this?
Bearing in mind, her and the children she teaches have payed entry to the
pool, the parents have payed a spectator fee.
This is her job, she pays taxes, N.I etc, its all legit, can the local
council do this?

HI,
I am a teacher too but i haven't gone out on my own to teach, i have
taught for swimming centres in the past. My view would be that unless
you have permission from the Manager of the swimming pool just out of
courtesy i wouldn't have thought it was a problem. Do they already
have swimming lessons there? perhaps someones nose has been put out of
joint. Without knowing all the information its hard to say, on the
other hand it's not as if your wife etc are not paying they're way.
Sounds very petty though, i would ask around and see if there is
another pool that would be only to happy to do this
